STATION PARK, Station Road off Rt. 517.
Approximately 40 acres of soccer fields, baseball fields, softball fields, a pond with picnic area and playground.
 
UNGERMAN FIELD AND MEMORIAL FIELD, Sparta Avenue
Facilities for basketball, baseball and softball. The Fisher Building houses a snack bar and classroom for local sports organizations and recreation classes.
 
MINI PARK / DYKSTRA CONCERT PARK - adjoining library
Has a playground for young children and concert seating for summer concerts, with patio/picnic area in the adjacent grassy knoll.
 
TYLER PARK and EDISON PARK -
Neighborhood parks owned and maintained by the Sparta Recreation Department which offer a basketball court, tennis court and playground equipment at both sites.
 
SPARTA GLEN, Glen Road
Encompasses a unique ravine which is endowed with great natural beauty and historical Interest. There are picnic facilities, foot trails, and for explorers, the possibility of discovering a trace of Revolutionary War era forges and dams. (Season: May I -Oct. 15)

Delaware Water Gap
This park preserves 40 miles of the middle Delaware River and almost 70,000 acres of land along the river's New Jersey and Pennsylvania shores. At the south end of the park, the river cuts eastward through the Appalachian Mountains at the scenic Delaware Water Gap.

Morristown National Historical Park, Morristown, NJ

Morristown National Historical Park preserves sites in the Morristown, New Jersey area occupied by General George Washington and the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War from 1779-1780. General Washington chose this area for its logistical, geographical and topographical military advantages, in addition to its proximity to New York City, which was occupied by the British in 1779.

Sparta Soccer
Sparta Soccer Club is a private, totally volunteer organization. Over 1000 children participate in our programs. We are one of the largest clubs in New Jersey. The purpose of our club is to promote and encourage the game of soccer in Sparta Township. We offer travel and recreational soccer at all levels

 

Sparta Girls Sports
Considered by many as the premier Fast-pitch softball program in the northeast, over 500 girls participate each year in its spring Recreation League season.  And in the competitive travel program, both the 10-under and 14-under travel teams “went the distance” and won State and Regional Championships in 2002.

Sparta Mountain Wildlife Management Area (WMA)
The 1394 acres that make up Sparta Mountain WMA boast an established warm water fishery on the WMA. Ryker Lake, one of several bodies of water on the WMA, has been declared a "Lunker Bass Lake". Special regulations maintain the high quality of the fishery in the lake, which includes panfish, as well as a healthy largemouth bass population. There are also other lakes in the area worth exploring for trophy fish.

Hiking & Biking

Sparta Mountain Wildlife Management Area
Sparta Mountain WMA contains Ryker Lake and other smaller bodies of water, there is a significant area of wetlands know as Edison Bog. Apart from the wetland areas there are some hills to climb offering a moderate workout and beautiful view. There are also acres of forests to stroll through which are home to white-tailed deer, black bear and wild turkey. If you are very lucky you may even catch a glimpse of a bobcat.

Skating and Inline Hockey

Sparta Skate Park
A skate board and roller hockey rink being organized by community volunteers. Currently building Phase One at Station Park near Kid's Castle. This should be completed and ready to skate on by 11/15/03. Fundraising is still taking place to complete the Skate Park with " Buy-a Line" on the Plaque (cost $50).
